Back to Drawing…

Monday was my birthday, and with it came a beautiful gift. <3

My desire for a new keyboard was noted a few weeks ago and acted upon. The Elf is a happy camper, may I just say. ::smiles:: It responds beautifully, and the keys are well spaced.

Strength In Numbers

She poked the embers, wishing the heat would touch the icy chill that had lodged its tendrils deep in her chest.

“This is the reason I wanted to become strong,” she told the flames. “A hunting knife to cut out their murderous hearts, and a quiver of arrows to protect me.” Drawing a steadying breath, she continued, “I half-wonder if I’d been in possession of one then, would I have been tempted to fall on it afterward.” Continue reading “Strength In Numbers”

Pumpkin Walnut Loaf

If you’ve noticed my predilection for pumpkin, you would be correct (says the lady as she sips her pumpkin spice tea), and this quick loaf is no exception. ::smiles::

A Way Out

Heartache pierces the heart
Like a fisherman’s hook.
Drawing itself out
The same way it comes in.

In the quiet moments,
Solitude whispers secrets
Promising singular fidelity.
Tightening the noose with silken cord
As she croons and combs your hair.

Following the golden thread,
Sadness holds your hand
Listening ever carefully to her siren song,
Promising everything will be all ok.

Close your eyes, now.
Shhh, don’t listen.
Don’t look,
For Hope stands right around the corner.
