Thirty Days Of… Art

There are so many internet challenges for the month of November. Novel writing, journaling, growing out your facial hair… you name it.  October was renamed to Sculptober… I’m not following any of these drummers.

MAWA has made the friendly challenge to… create. No other strings attached. A month of unfettered creation was kicked off with Charlene Brown, and thanks to her generosity, I was able to try pottery for the first time.

An’ A Party (or two) They Were Plannin’

October is always a busy month.

We live in Canada, so it’s always a little tricky when two members of the family celebrate their birthday on Thanksgiving weekend. If that wasn’t busy enough, my youngest daughter’s birthday is two weeks later… and add to the hustle and bustle, they are both in school for the first time.

I Lost the Morning

I lost my morning to the sun
~shining effortlessly through my window~
kissing softly the dark away

I watched on with disinterest
as it then burned away the shadows
with purpose.

sizzle               
hiss
               pop!

Then, the time…
Another grain of sand lost.

Slipped away in the roar of children’s squabbles
turned to blissful silence punctuated only with the
interspersed click-clack of imagination.

Another world.
Better than my own.

I look, the morning gone.
